Nach Bühnen-Show und zwei DJ Sets gabs noch Tanzbedarf... next thing you know ist die Sonne schon auf.

Der ungeschönte Blick in meine Innenwelt nach vielen Party-Aufnahmen:

Der Mix liegt fertig da. Zum x-ten Mal gehört.

Der Übergang bei Minute 40 - zu hart, der bei 97 skrewed.
Der Loop hängt nach. Nach dem Banger Luft raus?
Spiele ich eigentlich immer dieselben Tracks?

Dabei war die Nacht Ausnahmezustand.

Niemand zählte Takte mit.
Niemand hatte Beatmatching bestellt oder am Camelot Wheel gedreht.
Alle waren einfach da.

Jetzt sitze ich im Licht des Monitors
und will reparieren, was nie kaputt war.

Und noch ein Schnitt. Und aus einer durchtanzten Nacht
wird ein Ordner voller Versionen.

Das hier war nie ein Wettbewerb. Kein Bewerbungsschreiben.

Es ist eine Flaschenpost, ein Zeitdokument.
für eine Nacht, die es nie wieder so geben wird.

It was my first time at Almbeatz and an immense pleasure to experience this surreal, beautiful spot in South Tyrol for a few days and get to know all the regulars and new folks - everyone who contributed to making this such a lovely time. As heavy rain came pouring down during my set, we needed to stop and move everyone inside, but after a while continued where we had left off.

After many years of silence, Cargo Cult Crew came back together for the occasion in everybody's favourite basement in Berlin. It was such a fun evening from beginning to the end - thanks to everyone who made it happen and thanks Olivia FX for the great live show!

Anyway, here goes my set from 2am. I hadn't played a Drum'n'Bass set in ages, but since I had lovers of broken beats in front of me, there was no holding back. I had the pleasure of being supported by MC Massiv La Gaza, which unfortunately wasn't captured on this recording.

Fam's Birthday @ Strandbad Plötzensee

While it was raining and hailing in Neukölln, we enjoyed a late summer day and night in Strandbad Plötzensee and celebrated Fam's birthday. I took over a dance-hungry crowd from Joe Carrera when we moved inside. It was a fantastic night - I couldn't believe it had been 7 hours when I checked my watch as the place closed. Thanks everyone* for this great event. 😍

* Aside from the quite pushy outsiders who asked about every 5 minutes to have their songs played. 😬 I'll credit some of the missed beats to them. 😂

DJ Support: GitOps One Stop-Shop Event (Oct 2021)

In my day job (in the IT world) we staged an online event¹ in Oct 2021. As with past events like these, it makes the event a lot more fun if you have music in between quite technical talks and folks can get up from your desk and dance while you grab a new cup of tea.

On Mixcloud it's my first mix using a DJ controller - it's a very recent development for me. A lot of fun though. I enjoyed the whole event, but it was also sensory overload as I was watching 3 laptops to e.g. catch cues when new speakers would come on or if there was audience feedback, so excuse these moments of distraction - along with the breaks! I'll get a distraction-free mix out soon again - promise! So without further ado, here's the music folks from the event as people asked for it. Enjoy!

This is the first mix I ever deemed good enough to share with the wider world. Back then (2007-01-06) I fretted far too long about screwed up transitions between tracks or other mistakes. I'm still happy with the end-result (even if it's been more than 9 years since then) and I still love the selection of tracks.

The picture shows me the first time I played Drum'n'Bass music in a club (2006-12-01 in L.U.X. Berlin).
